Roles and permissions

Every person in your organisation has exactly one role. The role decides what the person can see and do. Your administrator chooses your role when inviting you and can change it later (see Administration).

The roles

tip

Administrators can see the same information in the app: open Users, select a user, and scroll to Role Permissions Reference.

What each role can do

"Yes" means the role has the capability. A dash means it does not.

Branch Managers see the Users menu item, but the user list only loads for Admins and the Proprietor. Branch Managers add staff through Invitations.

Loan approval stages

A loan application passes through three approval stages before it can be disbursed. Each stage belongs to one role:

Stage shown in the appWho can decide it
CO ReviewCollection Officer
ALM ReviewArea Manager
BM ReviewBranch Manager

Admins and the Proprietor can decide an application at whichever stage it has reached, so one person can take it through all three stages. A role cannot act out of turn: an Area Manager cannot approve an application that is still waiting for CO Review.

Some organisations switch the approval chain off. New applications then go straight to BM Approved, ready to disburse. See Small Loans.

Field officers

Clients, groups and loans can have a field officer assigned. Any active user whose role is Collection Officer, Area Manager, Branch Manager, Admin or Proprietor can be chosen as the officer. Viewers cannot.

When your role changes

Menus are set when you sign in. After an administrator changes your role, sign out and sign in again to see the menus for your new role.

If you open a screen your role does not include, the page shows Access Denied. Contact your administrator if you believe your role is wrong.
